Gray whales day trip
An unforgettable experience, a unique whale watching experience
Meet Baja´s friendly gray whales!
A day with gentle giants
In January, Gray whales start arriving on the Pacific coast of Baja California. They migrate annually from their winter feeding grounds in Alaska to mate and give birth in the protected lagoons of the Baja California Peninsula. This is one of the greatest migrations in the animal kingdom, a round-trip of around 20,000 km (12,000 miles)!
After years of whaling, the Gray Whales made an amazing comeback, a beautiful story of hope. (Read more about it here). Now they are one of Baja´s icons, especially known for being some of the friendliest whales in the world! Because this is not your average whale watching tour, this is the whale watching tour where whales come to watch you!
We will drive from La Ventana to Puerto Chale in the morning. We'll then get on a local “panga” and spend 3 hours searching for whales in the lagoon. We'll have the opportunity to see them up close as they breach, spy hop, and lobtail. After our whale-watching tour, we'll return to Puerto Chale for lunch and then head back to La Ventana.
